1,000 words (#305)

When I die
You may do what you want with my body–
Bury, burn, freeze
Erect a gravestone
Dedicate a park bench
Name a scholarship for me

I only ask
That instead of a funeral or a wake
You recite
The thousand words I leave behind

Some are simple, well-known, obvious:
Sky
Honeysuckle
Grace

Others you won’t want to say:
Phlegm
Anger
Clumsiness

The best will be those words
That you will have to search for
Words I have left for you alone
Left in the almost-dark
In whispers
Hidden in songs

Please find them when I die
And recite them, for me

Three voice poem (w/ Adam Kerr and Ryan Ramos)

calling
                          yelling
                                                     screaming
shouting
                          singing
                                                     feeling
crying
                          becoming
                                                     loving
words                  words                  words
words
we                       we
                          speak                  speak
                                                     words
                          is rhythm
                          the answer to life
                                                     is life
                                                     a reason to live?
to live
                          a life
answers
                                                     we need
                          how many words?
we search for
truth                                               truth
                                                     searches for us
                          and what do we find?
words                  words                  words

jamais vu                         (new)

            who

just look at that word
say it out loud

            who

stare at it
keep staring

            who

keep staring

            who

is it starting to look weird?
how do those letters go together?

            who
            who
            who

you know you’ve seen it before
and part of you knows it’s right
but is that really how you spell it?

            who

that long line in the middle

            who

is that supposed to be there?

            who

and the end looks surprised

            who
            who
            who

how do these random letters make a sound?

            us
